Understanding Credits & Pricing
Magic Mailer uses a credit system tied to your subscription. Here's how it all works.
Credit Types
There are two types of credits:
1. Stamps (Mailer Credits)
Used to send postcards. One stamp = one premium 4×6 postcard (full-color, thick cardstock, UV gloss finish).
2. Birthday Finder Credits
Used for birthday discovery. Consumed when the system searches data providers to find birthday information for your contacts.
Upload Limit
In addition to credits, your subscription includes an upload limit — the maximum number of contacts you can upload and process per billing period. This resets each billing cycle.
Where to See Your Credits
Go to Settings → scroll to the Credits section. You'll see:
- Stamps — Your available mailer credits
- Birthday Finder — Your remaining enrichment credits
How Credits Work
- Credits come from your subscription and refresh each billing period (monthly or annually)
- Unused subscription credits can roll over to the next period (up to a cap)
- You can also purchase extra credits — these never expire
When Are Credits Charged?
- Stamps are charged when each card is actually sent — not when the batch is approved. You're only charged for cards that go out.
- Birthday Finder credits are consumed during the contact processing pipeline when birthdays are being discovered.
- If a mailer is canceled before it sends, no stamp is charged.
- If a sent card is returned or fails, the stamp is automatically refunded.
Locked Credits
If your subscription is canceled, your credits become locked — shown with a red lock icon. Locked credits can't be used until you reactivate your subscription.
Important: Locked credits expire 90 days after your subscription ends. Reactivate within 90 days to keep them. After 90 days, they're lost.
Overage Pricing
If your card sends in a given month exceed your subscription's included stamps:
- An overage charge applies per extra card
- The overage rate depends on your plan tier (higher tiers have lower overage rates)
- The Send wizard will warn you during the review step if any month would exceed your allocation
